In his own words
What is your role for the team?
Working with the media and tracking coverage the team receives. I'll leverage my PR and business background to help our sponsors see in dollars, the return they are getting on their investment in the team. Given the team's success, I'm gonna be one busy guy.
What is your business/professional background?
I worked in a PR agency for three years in New York City, working for all sorts of clients. Then I joined Lucent Technologies, where I've been for the past 10 years. My roles have included business development, strategy, venture capital and operations, in the U.S. and internationally. I even lived in Saudi Arabia for a year!
What made you decide to get involved with professional cycling?
I've always been an avid cyclist. I remember when I was 12 years old traveling with my family in India, I'd listen to live coverage of the Tour de France on shortwave radio. When given the opportunity to work with a pro team, I couldn't pass it up.
Have you ever competed as a racer? If so, please list teams, years and any results.
I was a triathlete through high school and college. I did a couple of road races, but wouldn't consider myself a racer. I was pretty good back then - in the days when a good swimmer and biker could walk the run portion and still win, which was close to my style.
What are your interests outside of cycling?
Hanging out w/friends, shooting pool and having a cocktail. Other than that, working in my garden and sleeping - can never get enough of that.
What are some of your favorite movies?
Swingers, Office Space, Oceans Eleven, Bull Durham
