In his own words
How did you spend your off-season?
Got married, acquired a mastiff puppy, bought a house that needed extensive remodeling. Rode our 1961 Vespa around in the snow with my wife.
What are your goals or expectations for the 2008 season?
Win a stage at Tour of California and the Tour de Georgia. Stand on the podium at Nationals. Win a few races and help the teammates out to many wins.
When did you start racing, and why?
1995, I received a bike for my birthday.
Who were/are your cycling mentors and/or influences?
Gord Fraser, Jimmy Ricitello, Andy Bishop, Rob Alvarez.
What was your first bike? When/how did you get it?
Nishiki Prestige: 7-speed downtube friction levers and it weighed 25 pounds.
What was your first win?
Tucson Bicycle Classic. Won the first stage time trial in the Junior 15-16 category. It was my first race.
What would you consider your finest moment on the bike?
Winning the Tour of Qinghai Lake with the Navigator's after incredible support from my teammates.
What would you consider your worst or most embarrassing moment on the bike?
When I was 15 and learning how to trackstand I attempted to at a stop light. I fell directly over, right next to a school bus full of middle schoolers. Pretty embarrassing.
What's the one thing you've done on a ride (training or race) that you will absolutely never do again?
Start the Athens Twilight Criterium.
When you're not on your bike, what do you like to do?
Spend time with my wife and puppy. Read. Work on projects around the house.
