Eva Barabas
Title: Mechanic

Date of Birth/Location: 1/4/71, Connecticut

Current Residence: Chester Springs, PA

Education: BA, Boston University- Economics & International Relations

In her own words

2008 will be your first year with Health Net-Maxxis. Give us a bit of background on where you've been, and how you got here.

I've worked as a mechanic for many teams over the years:

2000 - Elita
2001 - Intersports
2002 - Sierra Nevada
2003 - Navigators
2004 - 2006 - Colavita
2007 - Kodak/Sierra Nevada

How/why did you end up wrenching in the pro ranks in the first place?

Like most mechanics and support staff, I raced and wasn't very good. I still wanted to be part of a team and I found that I was more useful as a mechanic than a rider.

Is your background working in bike shops?

Yes, I started in a bike shop in Bethel, CT.

Are you a cyclist yourself?

When I have some free time.

What are your interests outside of cycling?

Golf, reading, and trying to make the perfect cup of cappuccino

If I wasn't wrenching I'd be...

An academic, pursuing more useless degrees
