Milne made in Taiwan: seals overall win in Taipei

Taipei, Taiwan - Shawn Milne of the Health Net Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis made the most of his unexpected trip to the Tour of Taiwan this week. A late addition to the roster after teammate John Murphy broke his hip, Milne opened the Tour of Taiwan a week ago with a stage win to capture the leader's jersey.

Milne surrendered the jersey to Dean Windsor (Drapac Porsche) following the third stage. However, the next day, the jersey landed on the shoulders of Frank Pipp of Health Net Presented by Maxxis, who held the lead for two days. Milne retrieved it from Pipp after Stage 6, and wore the yellow jersey triumphantly in the closing 60 km Taipei criterium Saturday in front of representatives from team sponsor Maxxis, whose manufacturing is based there, as well as Ritchey.

Milne took a comfortable one-minute lead into the finale, then sat back and watched young teammate Matt Crane join the main break of the day and lap the field. Crane finished fourth on the stage, while Milne rolled in comfortably in the main bunch to take the overall win, as well as win the sprints competition for the green jersey.
