Oakland, CA - The Health Net Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis will send a strong five-man squad to contest the expanded Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, CA. In addition to Saturday's notorious circuit race on the Laguna Seca race track, the Fort Ord road race makes its return after a year absence with a new course.
The team will contest the hilly, challenging 70-mile road race on Friday afternoon. Tour of Taiwan overall winner Shawn Milne will lead the Health Net Presented by Maxxis squad at Sea Otter. He'll have strong support from four of his Taiwan teammates: Matt Crane, Kyle Gritters, Roman Kilun and Frank Pipp.
Kilun, a Berkeley, CA resident who has been racing at Sea Otter since he was a junior, will look to improve upon his breakout ride in 2005 when he finished third overall to current teammate Doug Ollerenshaw after a stellar ride during that edition's road race.
"All five of these guys are showing great form following Taiwan," said Health Net Presented by Maxxis assistant directeur sportif Mike Tamayo. "Both the road and circuit courses are tough and very selective, and I think all of our guys could be a factor this weekend."
