Pipp finishes third despite being outnumbered in Sea Otter circuit race

Monterey, CA - Frank Pipp of the Health Net Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis found himself facing long odds near the end of the grueling Sea Otter Circuit Race.

From where Pipp was sitting, "it seemed like Successful Living.com had 20 guys in the race," he commented afterward.

The numbers advantage paid off as Daniel Ramsey (Successful Living.com), who was in the first break to stick, escaped in the closing laps to win solo.

With Ramsey and Andy Jacques-Maynes off the front, Health Net Presented by Maxxis led the chase to bring back the duo, shattering the field as the race progressed. While the bunch never caught the duo, a number of riders bridged, including Pipp and three riders from Successful Living. Just as the chase group caught the duo, Ramsey attacked and stayed away. Brian Jensen (HRRC/Trek) finished second.
