Menzies blazes to Prologue win and 'Toona lead

Altoona, PA - After winning Stage 12 of International Superweek last Tuesday, Karl Menzies of the Health Net Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis made something of a bold prediction. "You'll be talking to me again after I win the prologue at 'Toona."

He must know his form very well. Menzies came out of the start house with the afterburners going and never let off the gas, winning the opening 5.6 km individual time trial of the International Tour de 'Toona in a time of 5.09.15, 4.38 seconds ahead of Shawn Milne (Navigators).

Menzies' teammate, Jeff Louder, showed that he still has the form that had him tied on time for first place at the Cascade Classic last week, finishing just 0.24 seconds behind Milne, while Navigators' time trial specialist Bernard Van Ulden was a mere 0.08 seconds behind Louder.

Greg Henderson of Health Net Presented by Maxxis put his track skills to work in posting the 5th best time, 5.11 behind his Tasmanian teammate. Australian national time trial champion Nathan O'Neill gave Health Net Presented by Maxxis its fourth rider in the top 10, finishing 9th at 8.53 seconds.

The International Tour de 'Toona continues Tuesday with a circuit race in Johnstown, PA.

Notes

Tuesday's circuit race starts and ends practically in the shadow of the Health Net Federal Services customer service center in Johnstown. The team will be joined before and after the race by a number of Health Net associates who work in the office.
