Hiawassee, GA - With just one flat stage following today's run, after 94 miles, to the top of brutal Brasstown Bald, this would be the last chance to shake up the overall standings of the Ford Tour de Georgia. The notorious climb took its toll on the field, though it was the top two on general classification coming in - Floyd Landis (Phonak) and Tom Danielson (Discovery) - battling at the front end of the race to the summit.
Danielson took the stage, but gained no time on the race leader. Nathan O'Neill of the Health Net Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis, who came into the stage sitting fourth overall, moved down several places to seventh after finishing in 16th place on the stage, 2:50 behind Danielson and Landis.
The Ford Tour de Georgia concludes Sunday with a 118-mile run from Cummings to Alpharetta.
