Silver City, NM - Gord Fraser of the Health Net Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis narrowly missed out on a second consecutive stage win at the Tour of the Gila Saturday. Instead he finished second to Rahsaan Bahati of TIAA-CREF in the 40-lap Silver City Downtown Criterium.
For Bahati and his team, the win - the first ever NRC victory for TIAA-CREF - brought a measure of redemption after Fraser benefited from their work in getting Friday's win.
Today's stage had no effect on the overall classification, and Scott Moninger of Health Net Presented by Maxxis, a two-time Gila champion, remains in second overall, just 22 seconds behind race leader Chris Baldwin (Toyota-United).
The Tour of the Gila ends Sunday with the grueling and often decisive 105.7-mile Gila Monster Road Race, which features five categorized climbs covering over 9,000 feet of climbing.
